About Palm Voice

Palm Voice is a free weekly paper for Jewish South Florida. One paper, carried into every kind of community here, so that what happens in one town is read in the next. A new issue is printed every Wednesday and left in the racks and pickup points where the community already gathers — there is nothing to subscribe to and nothing to pay.

It is a brochure, not a broadsheet: 5.5″ × 8.5″, a sheet of 8.5 × 11 in, folded in half, printed full colour throughout. It is comfortable to hold, quick to read through, and it sits on a kitchen counter for the week rather than being folded away.

The paper began with a straightforward observation: Jewish Florida is not one town but many — each with its own shuls, its own shops and its own week — and nothing printed was carrying all of them at once. Palm Voice was founded to be that page: one week, read the same way in every community it reaches. Dependable enough that readers look for it each Wednesday, and dignified enough that a local business is glad to be printed beside it.

That is also why the advertising and the classifieds sit beside the news rather than behind it. A baker in one neighbourhood and a contractor in another are part of the same week, and a paper that carries both is how they find each other. We are one community; the paper is where it does business with itself.
